It's going to be a big success": Donald Trump launches his brand of official sneakers

On Saturday February 17, Donald Trump unveiled a pair of high-top sneakers featuring an American flag. The model, entitled "The Never Surrender", retails for $399.

Despite his recent $350 million fine for fraud, Donald Trump remains undaunted and continues to take center stage in the run-up to the U.S. presidential election. The former president recently caused quite a stir when, on Saturday February 17, he unveiled his new line of official shoes at Sneakers Con in Philadelphia, an event dedicated to sneakers and all things street culture. Donald Trump took advantage of the occasion to enthusiastically present a pair of gold sneakers adorned with an American flag on the back and bearing the "T" logo. The model retails for $399.

"You know, I've been wanting to do this for a long time. It's something I've been talking about for twelve, thirteen years, and I think it's going to be a big success," he announced to the audience in attendance. The shoes, named "The Never Surrender", are on sale on the GetTrumpSneakers.comwebsite, specially created for the occasion. Their edition is limited to a thousand pairs, and if the official website is to be believed, they're already sold out. They are described as "bold, golden and tough, just like President Trump". The site also sells other Trump-branded sneakers, as well as cologne and perfume bearing the Republican's effigy.

According to the AP news agency, one of the pairs autographed by Donald Trump and sold at auction fetched $9,000. The auction site is run by CIC Ventures LLC, a company owned by the billionaire. Nevertheless, the site specifies that it "is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign ».

The Biden camp was quick to react. Joe Biden's campaign communications director, Michael Tyler, slammed the cheesiness of the new brand launched by the Republican candidate. "By selling his pale copy of Off-White, Donald Trump will never be as close to Air Force 1 as this for the rest of his life," he said in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer. The official was referring to the Off-White brand, known for its collaboration with Nike on the famous Air Force 1s. Note that the name of Nike's cult model is a reference to the American presidential airplane.
