Steph Deschamps / July 30, 2021

Joe Michael Dusty Hill, the bassist of ZZ Top, has died, the American rock band announced Wednesday on its Facebook page. The musician was 72 years old.

The band's lead singer, Billy Gibbons, and drummer Frank Beard state in their message that their sidekick died in his sleep at his home in Houston.

The three musicians, recognizable by their long beards, dark glasses and hats, formed the band ZZ Top in 1969. They are still performing, but hip problems forced Dusty Hill to leave the trio's tour last week.

The exact cause of death was not specified.

We will miss you, amigo, concluded Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard in their message posted on the social network.
