The World Health Organization on Friday called for control of the laboratories where the first cases of Covid-19 were identified in China, as part of its ongoing investigation into the origin of the pandemic.
To move the study forward, WHO believes studies or actions are needed in five main areas, including checks on relevant laboratories and research institutions active in the region where the first human cases were identified in December 2019, the organization's director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said at a meeting Friday with member state representatives.
