A man suspected of stabbing several people in Paris's Gare de Lyon station on Saturday morning has been arrested, the police prefecture told AFP, although it was unable to specify the assailant's motives at this stage.
According to a provisional report from the Préfecture de Police, the attack, which took place at around 8:00 a.m., left one person seriously injured, with no vital prognosis, and two slightly injured.
"The suspect reportedly did not shout during his action," added a police source. "He presented the police with an Italian driving license", the same source added.
"There is an intervention by the forces of law and order and emergency services currently in Halls 1 and 3, making them momentarily inaccessible", SNCF said on X.
"Traffic has slowed down between Paris Gare de Lyon and Montargis and between Paris Gare de Lyon and Montereau", she also announced, referring to "an act of malice ».
