The serial killer Michel Fourniret is dead

The serial killer Michel Fourniret, aged 79, died Monday at 15:00 in the secure interregional hospital unit (UHSI) of the Pitié-Salpétrière in Paris, announced the Paris prosecutor Rémy Heitz to AFP.

 

Michel Fourniret, had been hospitalized since April 28 in this unit dependent on the Fresnes prison center, where he was serving two life sentences for the murders of eight people. An investigation has been opened for 'research into the causes of death, entrusted to the 3rd district of the judicial police, the prosecutor said.

The criminal had already been hospitalized several times. His health had been deteriorating for several months, especially his memory, according to medical personnel.

Nicknamed the ogre of the Ardennes, Michel Fourniret was convicted in 2008 of the murders of seven young women or teenagers between 1987 and 2001 and sentenced to life imprisonment, before being re-sentenced in 2018 for a murder.

 

He is under investigation for four disappearances or murders in the cases of Estelle Mouzin, Marie-Angèle Domece and Joanna Parrish, and finally Lydie Logé, a 29-year-old woman who disappeared in 1993 in Orne.
