A small town in southern Italy is offering 25,000 euros to anyone who wants to move there

You want to go far away, where the weather is nice and warm, at a reasonable price? It's now a little more feasible thanks to this marketing campaign carried out by the town of Presicce, in Italy. This small seaside town is located in Puglia, in the extreme south of the heel, more commonly called Salento by the locals.

According to CNN, the town of Presicce is trying to attract visitors to try to welcome diversity and new faces. The "sindaco," (understand burgomaster) Alfredo Palese said, "There are many empty houses in the historic center built before 1991 that we would like to see revived with new residents."

The average cost of these houses is 25,000 euros. To this amount, we have to add the costs related to the renovation works. In order to attract new buyers, Presicce is ready to invest around 25,000 euros for new buyers as well.

The city council believes that the village has "beautiful architecture and art", but it is "slowly emptying". Indeed, many Italians are migrating north in search of work.

Palese continues: "We are going to offer up to 25,000 euros to people who want to move here and buy one of these abandoned houses. So the funding would be split in two: it will be used partly to buy an old house and partly to give it a makeover, if necessary."

There's not much more information at this time, as the deal is still being finalized, but more information is likely to be released on the city's website.

To qualify, you'll have to agree to become a full-time resident and buy one of the properties built before 1991.

According to CNN, the pretty town can afford to pay this money to new residents after it merges with a neighboring town in 2019, becoming Presicce-Acquarica.

At this time, we don't know how many people Presicce is willing to pay to move there.
