Vice President Mike Pence refuses to invoke the 25th amendment to remove Trump

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence refuses to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove incumbent Republican President Donald Trump from office. He sent a letter to that effect to Democratic Congressional President Nancy Pelosi.

This amendment allows the Vice President, with the support of his senior ministers, to declare a President unfit to hold office.

I believe that such an act is not in the best interest of our nation and is not in accordance with the Constitution," Pence wrote to Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi just before a vote in the lower house on a resolution requiring her to use this unprecedented lever in American history.

His negative response guarantees that Democrats will submit the indictment accusing Donald Trump of inciting the insurgency during the January 6 violence on Capitol Hill to the House on Wednesday, in a historic second impeachment proceeding. However, some Republican elected officials have indicated their intention to vote in favor of the indictment of Donald Trump for inciting insurgency in connection with the Capitol violence, which will mark the start of a historic impeachment proceeding. This is the case of the number three Republican in the House of Representatives, Liz Cheney.

Donald Trump said Tuesday that there was no risk that he would be removed from office under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution.
