California governor calls on Australia, Canada for help with fires

The governor of the US state of California, Gavin Newsom, has asked for help from Canada and Australia to fight the wildfires. Despite the efforts of more than 12,000 firefighters, natural fires continue to spread. “We haven't seen anything like this for many years,” he said.

Nearly 560 fires are raging in California. At least six people lost their lives, 43 were injured and more than 500 houses and buildings were destroyed. More than 175,000 residents were forced to flee.

These fires are draining our resources and our staff, Gavin Newsom said. He called on Australian firefighters, the best firefighters against natural fires.

Other US states such as Oregon, New Mexico and Texas are also providing support.
