Two cancerous growths removed from Jill Biden

Doctors removed two cancerous growths from U.S. First Lady Jill Biden on Wednesday and she is "feeling good" after her surgery, they said.

 

All cancerous tissue was successfully removed ... We will monitor the area closely as it heals, but we do not anticipate that any additional procedures will be necessary," presidential physician Kevin O'Connor said in a note. A "small lesion" on Jill Biden's left eyelid was "completely removed" and "sent for standard microscopic examination," he added. During the procedure, doctors discovered another lesion on the left side of Jill Biden's chest, which was also found to be cancerous and was removed. The First Lady had "facial swelling and bruising" after the surgery but "feels fine," said Kevin O'Connor, noting that she would return to the White House "later today. 

 

Accompanied by her husband Joe Biden on Wednesday, she had boarded the presidential helicopter Marine One in the morning to go to Walter Reed Army Hospital near Washington. The White House confirmed that she had a "scheduled outpatient surgery procedure, known as Mohs surgery." The procedure, which is performed under local anesthesia, is considered extremely effective in eradicating the formation of skin cancer, if done early enough.
