US Presidential 2024: Kamala Harris makes a heavy decision and warns against Donald Trump

Steph  Deschamps / August 24, 2024

Kamala Harris solemnly accepted the nomination of the US Democratic Party on Thursday in Chicago, in front of a jubilant crowd of delegates. She warned of the “serious” threat to American democracy posed by her Republican rival Donald Trump.

After recounting the milestones in her personal life and thanking those closest to her, as well as US President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris announced her acceptance of the Democratic nomination for the US presidential election in November.

“On behalf of Americans like those I grew up with, people who work hard, pursue their dreams and look out for each other, on behalf of all those whose stories can only be written in the greatest nation on earth, I accept your nomination to become President of the United States,” Harris launched in a speech to a transcendent crowd.

The current Vice-President of the United States said the election would be an opportunity to “chart a new course” for the country, and promised to unite all Americans around their “greatest ambitions”.

“We are in a battle for the future of America,” she launched, warning against her Republican rival Donald Trump. Ms. Harris recounted the legal cases in which Trump is involved. Judging that Donald Trump “is not serious”, she insisted that a new term for the billionaire in the White House would, on the other hand, have “very serious” consequences, particularly in terms of women's reproductive rights.

She also promised to create an economy “that allows everyone to succeed” but also to defend the rights of Americans, notably to vote and to live without pollution.

Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris viciously attacked her Republican rival Donald Trump on Thursday in front of Democratic delegates, accusing him of wanting to send the country “backwards” with a very conservative agenda.

“We know what (Donald) Trump's second term would look like. It's all written in Project 2025,” she declared, referring to an ultraconservative program crafted by those close to the billionaire whose aim, she claimed, was to ”take our country back years.” The crowd responded by chanting one of her campaign slogans: “We won't go backwards”.
