US Presidential 2024: Trump assures he'll “never give up”, Musk shows his support on stage

Steph Deschamps / October 8, 2024

Donald Trump was back in Butler this Saturday, October 5, where he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on July 13, assuring us in a defiant tone that he would “never give up” even if the gunman sought to “silence” him.

“I will never give up, never bend, never break,” declared the former US president and Republican candidate for the next presidential election in front of several thousand people, including the world's richest man and owner of social network X (ex-Twitter), Elon Musk, one of his most important supporters.

Following this, Donald Trump marked a minute's silence, at the precise moment when the shots rang out on July 13, with a heartfelt tribute to the only victim, Corey Comperatore, before resuming his speech at the exact point where it had then been interrupted.

He also denounced those he refers to as “enemies from within, far more dangerous than those from without”.

“Over the past eight years, those who want to stop us have slandered me, tried to impeach me, sued me, tried to take away ballots and, who knows, maybe even tried to kill me. But I have never stopped fighting for you and I never will,” the ex-president assured his supporters, who were far more numerous than at the first meeting in Butler. Many wore T-shirts bearing the image of the former president just after the assassination attempt, while others had their ears covered.

Invited to speak on stage by Mr. Trump, billionaire Elon Musk presented the American election as “a fight we must not lose”, fearing that it would otherwise be “the last election, that's my prediction”.

“President Trump must prevail, to preserve the Constitution and democracy,” insisted Elon Musk.
