Emmanuel Macron calls for finding a majority following the debacle of the legislative elections: We must build compromises

French President Emmanuel Macron rejected on Wednesday the idea of a government of national unity that he believes not justified to date to get out of the crisis resulting from Sunday'sparliamentary elections, while calling to find a clearer and stronger majority to act.

 

Addressing the French people, the head of state acknowledged the fractures revealed by the legislative elections and called on all political groups to say in all transparency how far they are prepared to go. The French president has only a relative majority in the Assembly after the legislative elections on Sunday and must find alliances.

In this short televised address, he also confirmed that measures on purchasing power, climate and full employment would be taken this summer.
