Macron's popularity at its lowest since March 2020

French President Emmanuel Macron's popularity rating continues to fall as protests against his decried pension reform multiply, according to a poll released Tuesday.

He loses two points of popularity, to 34% of favorable opinion, his worst score since March 2020, according to this Ifop-Fiducial poll.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, at the forefront of the pension reform, registers a more significant drop: -4 points compared to last month, to 31% approval.

According to this poll, only 38% of French people consider the President of the Republic as "capable of reforming the country", a drop of two points compared to last month.

The Prime Minister is perceived as rigid by the French: only 27% find her "open to dialogue" - a figure that has dropped by 8 points in one month.

Since the beginning of the school year in September, the popularity rating of the executive branch has continued to fall, especially among working people, where it is only 29% for Emmanuel Macron and 24% for Elisabeth Borne.

This survey was conducted from February 1 to 2, 2023, among a sample of 1,012 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, according to the quota method, with a margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 points.
